Korg KDM-2 True Tone Advanced Digital Metronome Review

(More customer reviews)but it doesn't do much more than the less-expensive Korg MA-30. That said, I like the KDM-2 quite a bit. It's an improvement on the KDM-1 (which I like very much also - it's just a more basic metronome), and similarly designed. The KDM-2 shares these features with the MA-30: tap-in beat; subdivided beats; 12 calibrated tuning notes (you can choose the exact tuning - A=440, 441, etc); mute button. The added KDM-2 features: son clave & rumba beats (3-2, and 2-3); choice of 4 different click sounds; LCD display; LED beat indicator; loud volume (I play trumpet & have no problem hearing the metronome), and tempo selection in standard metronomic increments (60, 63, 66, etc) in addition to +/- 1 beats (60, 61, 62, etc).
You should get the KDM-2 instead of the MA-30 if you need the extra latin beats, the different click sounds (at least one of which should cut through most loud playing, or possibly small ensemble volume) or the LED indicator (the light however doesn't seem as strong as that of the KDM-1). If these extras aren't enough, the MA-30 would be an excellent choice.

(More customer reviews)This thing isn't some fancy item with tons of features to review, but it does what it's supposed to: it grips your guitar or bass securely, saves some floor space, displays your instrument nicely, and puts it in plain sight and arm's reach so that you can practice more often. I also like the fact that it's wood and not some ugly polyethelyne plastic or something like that. As I couldn't find a stud in my wall, I mounted this thing on the side of my wood bookshelf and it looks and works beautifully. One thing: DO NOT JUST DRILL ANYWHERE INTO YOUR WALL FOR THIS THING!! Make sure you mount it in a stud or on some significant piece of wood, because odds are some day the weight of your guitar or bass will rip it out of drywall and then you may or may not have damaged your instrument. So, buy one or five of these and make a nice display of your axes.

(More customer reviews)I bought my Barcus Berry fiddle 30 years ago. Over the past couple of years, the bridge started to bend, so I looked to replace it before it broke. I went to a couple of violin shops, one sales guy told me, "The Baggs bridge is much better, I've noticed that the wood on the Barcus' haven't been so good these days". What a bunch of B.S., nice try, violin guy, after telling me that you don't carry the Barcus Berry bridges, but happen to carry the Baggs - AND, the wood for my new Barcus Berry bridge is just fine. My fiddle has always sounded beyond excellent through my amps, and now through a tube preamp directly into the board, and I wouldn't trade my Barcus Berry fiddle, bridge, or anything else, for anything. The new bridge didn't affect the sound any, it was just as smooth and natural sounding as the one that came with the fiddle. This bridge, as well as my thirty years with my fiddle, more than satisfies my accute hearing and pickiness. Five stars for Barcus Berry's products.

Glaesel GL-3812 3 Prong Violin Mute, Ebony Review

(More customer reviews)The Glaesel Ebony mute is pretty simply to install, but in time it will slip off little by little.. As for it's job, it does actually mute with a more bassy sound. The downside is that it will "hide" your mistakes made without the mute and the Ebony will stain the bridge black after a week or 2 of use. If you want to preserve your bridge then I suggest trying a different product.

so this is surprising price for residents in Japan.
tariff was less than 3000JPY.
Very light weight and compact style.(can avoid trouble at the airline counter)
I can use it when it is slight rain without covering
because it is strongly made. above all,I like its stylish design.
but there's the only bad point...I have to lay bows opposite position.
It was a little bit troublesome before I get use to.

Because of the size, I found it difficult to tune and keep in tune, but I had researched beforehand and knew this was an issue with a violin of this size. We wanted something affordable and this model was just a step up from the cheapest ones, so we weren't expecting the best quality instrument. After all, even if we had spent hundreds more, what can you reasonably expect from a 3-1/2-year old and his violin? This quality and priced violin made sense for our situation. So far, my son is thrilled to take out his violin and experiment with making sound. We haven't started him on any lessons just yet, but thus far, we are very pleased with our purchase. It came with a bow, rosin, bridge and zipper-type case. We followed youtube videos on getting set up, so it wasn't too complicated. I am hoping with proper care and instruction that the violin will last until he needs the next size.

Hofner Icon Series Vintage Violin Bass, Transparent Black Review

I fell in like with the look of the Hofner Icon at the local Guitar Center and bought it. After a month of practice, lessons, and research, I happened upon a Hofner 500/1 vintage '63 reissue violin bass (hand made in Germany) at a hole-in-the wall music shop in downtown Chicago and fell in LOVE with it and it's amazing flatwound strings! I dropped nearly $2,000 and brought this beautiful instrument (such high quality that it should qualify as a piece of furniture) and returned my Icon with no regrets.
I may actually purchase another Icon soon and throw some flatwound strings (Hofners from North Coast Music) and use it for my travel bass when on vacation.
Here's what you need to know about the available Hofner basses:
ICON ($400ish)
-Made in China with Chinese electronics that can be quirky
-Fit and finish is adequate for the price point
-Regular roundwound strings with some fret buzz depending on setup
-Hollow body
-A pain in the butt getting a case sometimes! Go EBay or Amazon!
-Available in lefty (often with a case oddly)
CONTEMPORARY ($700ish)
-Made in China with German electronics
-Fit and finish adequate...slightly better than the Icon
-Has regular roundwound strings
-Hollow body BUT has a sound block inside giving it more sustain and a more modern, hence "contemporary" bass sound
-Has a neck bridge so you can slap on a McCartney-style Hofner strap!

(More customer reviews)Sounds good for a cheaply made violin. More bright though I would prefer a darker sound. I like how there is a volume knob on top of the violin. There's a Yamaha electric violin where the knob is on the bottom and is unreachable if you're in playing position. The mechanics work very well. It doesn't feed back. Not bad for the price. The case it comes with broke right away. It's absolutely a piece of junk as is the bow. I immediately changed the strings to Dominant strings which made it sound better.
If you need an electric violin and don't have the money to get a good one, this violin gets the job done. Not the best, but what do you expect for the price?
