(More customer reviews)I bought his bow a few days ago and it arrived within two days!! It is a pernambuco bow and I can visibly hear a difference in the tone that it makes vs my Brazilian wood bow! This bow resonates more and has a very warm tone to it. My violin teacher also said the same when I show her the bow in our lesson and she played with it. She will be recommending this to her students and so do I. It a very good bow for its price, I dont' think you can find another pernambuco bow at this price. Most of them on the market are close to a hundred if not more. The bow was not warped and is in very good condition, brand new. This bow is lighter than my brazilian wood bow and I love the warmth of the tone it makes!

(More customer reviews)First of all, no paperwork came with the shipment. Nothing -- no shipping paper, no instruction/product information (this was supposed to be an electric violin but came with no adoptor, cord, earphone, etc.).
As soon as I tried to tune the instrument, one of the strings came loose. Upon inspection, I noticed that the peg hole was not drilled through and the string was originally just wrapped around the peg (that was why it came loose) -- we had to drill a hole into the peg to make it work. We had other issues with the instruments.
Emailed the vendor asking for assistance -- received no response.
Do not recommend this product -- bad craftmanship and bad service.

This Natural Color Electric Violin is ideal for the budding musician. It includes free Carrying Case, Rosin, and Bow.It features spruce front, maple back and sides, ebony fingerboard, and jojube wood pegs. It comes with a product guide. Here are some hints to help keep your violin in tune: 1. Although the violins come with a bridge, it is not installed. Installing a bridge is not difficult, but if you have a problem, please email us. The bridge has to be installed for the violin to play correctly. 2. Strings do tend to slip and lose their tune on a new violin because they need to stretch. If this happens, just give it time. The strings just need time to settle in. 3. If the violin pegs keep slipping, try to push the peg in while turning it. If they still dont stay in, peg drops are available at most music stores. They are relatively inexpensive and should help the pegs stay in. 4. If a strand of hair breaks on the bow, take a pair of nail clippers and cut it from the frog (bottom of the bow) or the top of the bow. A few hairs are bound to fall out with play. Remember to rub a little rosin (included) on the bow before playing. This is a great violin to get started with. And at this price it is an unbeatable value.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this when it first came out (and back then, it was definitely overpriced, but loved the feel!). Over all my years playing and teaching, this has been my definite favorite. All my students who use it also are very happy and prefer it over all their past shoulder rests.
Once fitted onto the violin, it stays there (doesn't fall off easily like others), and provides support and comfort for whole shoulder.
HOWEVER, I am surprised that the company has not simply upgraded it to have folding legs. It is huge and does not fit into even a large violin case. It doesn't fit well either into the zipper pockets as it is so wide in thickness. Thus, whenever I am on the go at orchestra rehearsals or musical events, I usually leave it at home/studio. Too much burden to carry a whole separate bag for it.
So, I hope the company takes this feedback as a go to revise it, which I bet would increase the customers and earn many more happy musicians.

I wanted strings that were less expensive, and based on the previous review, decided to try these. The cost of these strings, through Amazon, is lower than the cost of basic strings at the local music shop, but the sound quality is so much better. If I had known what a difference the strings made, I would have started her off with better strings from the beginning.

(More customer reviews)Yes, the price is awesome and for a very beginner it probably will function, but the quality is not high. The one I got had a defect on the nut and also was not entirely straight. Overall did not look uniformly made--looked thrown together. I returned it, so we didn't ever play with it. However, it was wood and real horsehair. So, it was probably better than paying twice as much for an equally cheap fiberglass one like they sell in our local music store. So, if your budget is limited, it might be okay. At least it is wood and it is a great price.

Fishman Classic Series V-100 Violin Pickup Review

(More customer reviews)I agree that attaching this type of pickup is awkward at best, but the quality of the sound is excellent for a pickup at this price (you really need a high quality microphone for true sound reproduction, which has its own issues). This price is very reasonable, but if you want to spend a little more Fishman also makes a model with a clamp-on 1/4" jack that I imagine is much easier to use.

(More customer reviews)While I haven't really had a whole lot of experience trying out other rosins, I've usually been of the opinion that it didn't really matter what rosin you used, as long as it's sticky. I didn't really know that rosin could be effective. Then a stand partner told me that this was the only rosin she ever used, so I figured "Well, hey, if it's just average rosin, I'll still have an average rosin cake that'll last forever."
So I ordered it, got it about a week earlier than advertised. (The box arrived before I got the e-mail saying it'd shipped.)
Needless to say, I use it on all of my bows now. It works particularly well on Incredibows (if you know what those are), which is what I use most of the time. I imagine it would work very well with other types of synthetic bows. It is also very effective - I remember in middle school when I'd have to spend a solid five minutes getting rosin on my bow - Andrea rosin will "stickify" your bow in one or two sweeps. I've also noticed a distinct decrease in E-string squeaks since I started using it.

Neither kid is terribly artsy or in to material things, but they seem to "get" that we wanted to give them a little something special and I think they'll try to keep these throughout their lives. The burling is very pretty and the box is well-finished. None of us here can provide expert comment on the rosin, but it does seem to work just fine on their student-level instruments.

Regular KUN shoulder rest was too much for her, so I needed something thinner, smaller, possibly something we can leave attached to violin without taking it on and off each time she uses the violin. I've seen these foam pads used with Suzuki method and decided to try. Bought this one. It is really useless. It collapses to nothing. Foam is just too soft. The only thing it does is helps with traction, so the violin isn't so slippery on the shoulder. Any piece of cloth attached with rubber band would do the same thing.
I guess you get what you paid for and for $1.80 we didn't loose much. However, I think I will just look for a stronger piece of sponge at craft store and not buy another brand online. I can at least feel it and cut it just the right size.
Can't wait for my daughter to use a regular, nice shoulder rest.
